In the window area, Ao Design has taken a bold approach by using interior architecture techniques to divide the space into three distinct areas: entrance, display, and scene. This unconventional design choice is achieved through the use of "BOX," a morphological element that incorporates plane, inclined plane, and cut plane characteristics. Not only does this design contribute to the expansion and extension of the visual effect of the facade, but it also adds depth and dimension to the overall space.
One of the standout features of Boxes is the use of infinitely extending mirrors. By breaking the original gap, these mirrors create a sense of boundlessness and stimulate the imagination and creativity of the space. This unique characteristic brings unparalleled visual impact and psychological feelings, enhancing the overall shopping experience.
Covering a total area of 100 square meters, Boxes is a testament to the innovative and creative approach of Ao Design. The project started in March 2020 and was completed in July 2020, both in Nanjing.
The design concept behind Boxes is rooted in extensive research on space aesthetics and art. The partition wall, for example, goes beyond its traditional function and becomes an artistic carrier that evokes emotional responses. The pure white color scheme of the space encourages contemplation and thought, while the unadorned white walls add a sense of purity.
One of the challenges faced by Ao Design was to retain the original attributes of the space while incorporating functional elements. The space frame, for instance, serves as a hanging clothing display area, emphasizing the concepts of breaking, superposition, and reorganization. This approach creates a sense of uncertainty and allows for the expression of individuality, aligning with the brand's vision of unconventional fashion for children.
The layout and structural decoration of Boxes are based on the separation and extraction of square and circular elements in geometry. These elements are then integrated with points, lines, and surfaces to form a three-dimensional aesthetic that combines virtual and real retail space. The partition wall creates a sense of wandering and interspersing, while the raised part of the ground provides additional possibilities for stacking, display, and leisure activities.
Boxes, designed by Ao Design, is a testament to the power of integrating space and art aesthetics. By breaking away from traditional retail design norms, this high-end children's clothing retail shop offers a unique and visually stunning shopping experience. The combination of innovative design techniques, such as the use of "BOX" and infinitely extending mirrors, creates a space that is both functional and inspiring.
